Know how to stay happy and beat the blues?

  Volunteering

Working in a soup kitchen. Tutoring a child. Sitting on the board of a charity. Leading museum tours. What better way to spend your time than by helping others? Volunteering also allows you to more seriously explore your interests and hobbies.

Where to Begin

The first step towards becoming a volunteer is figuring out what kind of work would be most compatible with your lifestyle and interests.

  • What kinds of organizations intrigue you?
  • Which organizations reflect your principles and values?
  • What legacy do you want to leave behind for future generations?

These questions will help you decide what you want to accomplish through volunteering. Once you have narrowed down your list of potential volunteer organizations:

  • Contact the organization and ask about their volunteer opportunities.
  • Visit the organization to see if it would be a good fit for you.
  • Make a commitment and honor it to the best of your ability.
  • Enjoy meeting new people, learning new skills and making a difference!

Volunteering benefits your mind, body and soul by helping you stay active and involved in your community. To learn about all the different ways you can volunteer, see the links below.
